Liverpool signs defender Jovan Lee from Parma
- Liverpool has signed Italian defender Jovan Lee from Parma.
- The agreement with Parma includes £26 million plus bonuses.
- Lee is set to join the first team without any loan.
Liverpool has reached an agreement with Parma for the signing of 18-year-old defender Jovan Lee for £26 million plus additional payments.
The agreement was reached in the middle of the evening, and Lee received permission to travel to Liverpool to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical examination, which is set to begin on Thursday.
The Italian defender, who has also attracted interest from other clubs, including Inter and teams from the Premier League, is set to join Liverpool's squad without the possibility of a loan.
This transfer comes in light of the team's need for defensive reinforcements, especially since Ibrahima Konaté is out of contract at the end of the year. Jovan Lee will become the sixth major signing for Liverpool this summer, which could push the club's overall spending in this transfer window to over £300 million.
Liverpool is also holding talks with Crystal Palace regarding English defender Marc Guehi. Despite the signing of Lee, interest in Guehi remains, although negotiations have yet to materialize regarding financial terms.
Manager Arne Slot noted that the team needs defensive reinforcements after the defeat in the Super Cup, where Liverpool conceded nine goals in their last four matches.
