The Economy of Great Britain Grew in June Thanks to Services
- The GDP of Great Britain increased by 0.3% in the second quarter of 2025.
- The growth in June helped to compensate for previous declines.
- The service and construction sectors demonstrated strong results.
The economy of Great Britain recovered in June 2025, growing by 0.4% compared to the previous month, which helped achieve 0.3% growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter. This growth was higher than expected, as analysts had predicted only 0.1% growth.
The service and construction sectors showed positive results, increasing by 0.4% and 1.2% respectively. However, production decreased, which contributed to concerns regarding the stability of growth.
This data was published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and confirmed that the economy is still feeling pressure from trade-related conflicts and inflationary challenges. Although growth in June was unexpected, overall the second quarter showed stronger growth than the first, where GDP increased by 0.7%.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves noted that while these indicators are positive, additional measures are necessary to further stimulate the economy.
