In southeastern Virginia, during an ongoing conflict, three sheriff deputies were injured. They were carrying out orders related to the application of a search warrant and trespassing in the town of Gretna. This was reported by Sheriff of Pittsylvania County Michael V. Taylor.

The deputies also executed a protective order. Although they were "injured," their condition is assessed as good.

The conflict lasted several hours, but ended peacefully, with the arrest of a suspect, according to Taylor.

"All is in order. Obviously, they are injured. They are going through the process of recovery," said Taylor.

At the scene of the incident, a large number of police and emergency services were present.

Congressman John Mavabair, who represents Virginia's 5th congressional district, earlier expressed his thoughts and prayers for the injured deputies and their families in a publication on X.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and keeping in our hearts all those affected during this difficult time," wrote Mavabair.

Pittsylvania County is located in the southern part of the state of North Carolina, approximately 98 miles (158 km) north of Raleigh, North Carolina.
