North Korea Supplies Troops and Equipment to Russia

North Korea plans to send additional troops to Russia. According to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, this involves nearly 6,000 soldiers and 50-100 units of equipment, including main battle tanks and armored personnel carriers.

Budanov noted that North Korea is sending engineering units for the expansion and restoration work in the Kursk region. However, he doubts that this is the only purpose of the mission.

Currently, North Korea provides nearly 40% of the Russian army's needs for 122-mm and 152-mm munitions, which are produced in bulk. Russia has also received from Pyongyang hundreds of artillery systems and rockets.

Budanov added that some of these supplies turned out to be ineffective, but the Russian side corrected many shortcomings. For example, the KN-23 rocket with a range of 690 km showed significant improvements in accuracy after modernization.

North Korea is actively participating in the war against Ukraine, supplying both personnel and a wide range of equipment. Throughout last year, North Korea sent units that participated in combat operations, and according to intelligence assessments, at least 10,000 North Korean soldiers have already been sent to the front.

According to data from the southern intelligence of Ukraine, North Korea has already lost at least 4,700 of its soldiers in this war. Russia has officially confirmed the presence of North Korean troops in the conflict, as has North Korea itself.
