On August 14, 2025, Real Madrid signed 18-year-old Argentine forward Franco Mastantuono to a six-year contract. The agreement was reached a few months ago, but the club is waiting for the player to achieve full fitness. According to information, the transfer cost Madrid 45 million euros, which amounts to approximately 52.5 million dollars.
Mastantuono, who previously played for River Plate, was presented at a press conference, where he promised to give everything for the club. He received a gift in the form of a model of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, a watch, and a jersey with his name and number 30.
The signing of Mastantuono has become part of Real Madrid's strategy aimed at attracting young talents from South America. Previously, the club signed players such as Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Federico Valverde, thanks to the efforts of chief scout Juni Calafat.
This transfer occurs during the first season under the leadership of the new coach Xabi Alonso, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti. In the previous season, Real Madrid did not manage to achieve high results, winning the title from Barcelona and failing to reach the Champions League final.
