Another contestant of MasterChef has been excluded from the new season of the program, which became the center of a scandal. According to a representative of the production company Banijay, the contestant, whose name is not disclosed, requested not to appear on the show after 45 complaints about the behavior of hosts Greg Wallace and John Torode were recognized as substantiated.
This contestant became the second to exit the show after the scandalous events. Previously, contestant Sara Shafi also requested to be removed from the program due to concerns that the show might send the wrong signal to women. Initially, she refused the proposal to remove her, but changed her decision after the announcement about the new season.
BBC decided to show this season, which had been filmed before the dismissal of the hosts, stating that this was "the right decision" for contestants who were involved in the filming. However, this decision has drawn criticism from some women who protested, while the Bectu union stated that the negative behavior "should not be tolerated on a primetime show."
It is noted that in the new episodes, the number of arguments and discussions between the hosts and chefs has decreased. The first episode of the new season attracted nearly a million viewers compared to the previous year. In the upcoming episodes, Greg Wallace will be replaced by Anna Haugh, and in his place on Celebrity MasterChef, Grace Dent has been confirmed.
