On August 14, 2025, Andrew James McGann, a 28-year-old elementary school teacher, appeared in court charged with the murder of his spouse Clitona (43 years old) and Kristen Brink (41 years old), who were killed during a hike with their two daughters in Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas.
McGann, who was arrested 30 miles from the crime scene, did not express emotion during the hearing and did not speak with the press. The prosecution claims that his DNA was found at the crime scene, and he admitted to the killings during the interrogation. Currently, McGann remains without bail.
The spouse of Brink was strolling along the trail in the park when McGann, according to police statements, attacked Clitona, and then, seeing that Kristen was trying to protect the children, he also killed her. Brink's daughters, aged 7 and 9, are safe and are currently staying in safety with relatives.
The motives for the attack remain unknown. The police stated that there are no direct evidence linking McGann to the victims, and that the murder is considered accidental. Authorities continue the investigation to clarify the details of the events that led to the attack.
