31-year-old Mishelle Fox from New York found a diamond weighing 2.30 carats in Arkansas State Park, which is officially recognized as the third largest diamond ever found in the park this year. She discovered it while searching in July, spending the month on a treasure hunt.
Fox began her journey on July 8, after completing training in the park, supported by a partner who hoped to find the ideal stone. The park, known as "The Crater of Diamonds," is the only place in the world where the public can search for and keep diamonds.
On the last day of her trip, while exploring the park's territory, Fox spotted a sparkling stone. After confirmation from park staff that it was a diamond, she named it "the Fox-Ballou diamond" in honor of herself and her partner.
Fox emphasized the importance of being prepared to tackle challenges: "It is necessary to be ready to solve problems while working hard." In 2023, 366 diamonds were registered in the park, of which 11 weighed more than one carat.
