- Google has launched a new tool called Flight Deals for searching flight tickets.
- The feature utilizes artificial intelligence to select travel options.
- Regulators are investigating potential anti-competitive behavior from Google.
This is reported by TechCrunch, The Verge.
On August 14, 2025, Google announced the launch of a new feature called Flight Deals, which uses artificial intelligence to help users find cheap flight tickets. This new tool is available in Google Flights and is designed for "budget travelers" who want to find great deals.
Users can enter queries in natural language, describing where and when they want to travel. For example, they might say "a weekend trip to a warm place in the winter" or "a 10-day trip to the beach with new snow." The artificial intelligence analyzes these queries and proposes suitable options.
The new feature is currently in beta testing and will be available in the USA, Canada, and India starting next week. Google plans to use user feedback to refine the tool and explore possibilities for improving travel planning with the help of artificial intelligence.
Regulators, including the European Commission, are conducting investigations into how Google may provide an advantage to its own products, including Google Flights, which could harm competition. In response, Google plans to implement changes, including adding comparative pricing in search results.
Competitors such as Booking.com, Expedia, and others have already launched their own integrations of artificial intelligence to simplify travel planning. Despite this, Google may still gain an advantage due to the scale of its initiative, allowing it to remain a serious player in the market.
The classic interface of Google Flights will remain accessible, and it will also receive updates that allow users to exclude basic economy fares for travel between the USA and Canada.
