- Recall bottles may explode during use.
- Consumers are advised to stop using and return to Drinkmate.
- The problem concerns bottles with expiration dates up to January 2026.
More than 100,000 Drinkmate bottles are subject to recall in the USA and Canada due to the risk of explosion during use. Several consumers reported injuries from cuts and other traumas.
According to the announcement, published on August 14, 2025, by the American Commission on Safety of Consumer Products, the recall concerns certain Drinkmate 1L bottles, which were sold separately or in a kit with the OmniFizz carbonating water appliance. This includes approximately 106,200 bottles in the USA and 5,000 in Canada.
Drinkmate received reports about the explosions of these bottles in the USA, of which four incidents resulted in cuts, bruises, and other injuries. In Canada, there was also one reported incident involving a bottle that exploded in the sink.
At this moment, it is unclear what causes these explosions. It is known that the problem concerns bottles with a volume of 1 liter with expiration dates between January 2026 and June 2026. The bottles have a clear body made of polyethylene terephthalate and plastic caps in red, blue, white, and black colors.
The bottles were sold in major retailers like Walmart, Amazon, Target, and Home Depot from March 2023 to June 2024. Consumers who have these bottles are encouraged to stop using them and contact Drinkmate for a free replacement.
Those who fall under the recall can register and design more on the Drinkmate website. To obtain a free replacement bottle, it is necessary to fill out the online form and upload a photo of the product with the label "recall" on it, as well as provide its corresponding response to the recall instructions.
