The price of the Mounjaro preparation rises in Ukraine

• The price of Mounjaro will increase by 170% to £330 per month.

The price of the popular preparation for weight loss Mounjaro in Ukraine, manufactured by Eli Lilly, has risen by 170%. The cost of the monthly dose of the preparation with the highest dose will increase from £122 to £330.

Approximately 500,000 people in Great Britain are receiving Mounjaro or another preparation for weight loss, Wegovy, through prescriptions from private online pharmacies. Along with the data, approximately 1.5 million people in Ukraine use preparations for weight loss, most of whom purchase them privately.

In June 2023, the NHS began to prescribe Mounjaro to patients with obesity. Eli Lilly announced that it would not raise the price that the NHS pays and works with private health suppliers to ensure continued access to the preparation.

Regardless of the price increase, the NHS confirmed that this does not affect their purchasing process for patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes.

The health and medical services institute (Nice) warned that many patients may regain weight without adequate support after stopping treatment. They emphasized the importance of providing structured support and monitoring of patients over the year following the end of treatment.
