Washington (AP) — A man who was previously charged with a crime for hitting an employee of a federal agency has been fired from the Department of Justice. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced this in a social media post on September 14, 2025.
Sean Charles Dannen, 37 years old, worked as a specialist in international affairs in the criminal division of the Department of Justice. He was fired after he attacked a federal employee at a customs and border protection agency during a conflict on 14th Street in northwest Washington.
In a video that went viral, it shows Dannen approaching a group of agents, pointing at one of them and making remarks. He accused them of being "fascists" and asked why they were in his area. After he hit the employee, Dannen attempted to flee but was apprehended.
Attorney General Bondi stressed that such actions cannot be left unaddressed. "Whenever you target any law enforcement, we will be against you," she stated. She also pointed out that there is still a former FBI agent working in the Department of Justice, who was charged in connection with the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The incident occurred outside a federal building, which was established by the Trump administration, including the deployment of the National Guard in Washington to combat racism, regardless of the statistics that indicate about a 30-year minimum level of racism in the area.
