  • Louis Rees-Zammit returns to rugby with the Bristol Bears.
  • The player did not manage to secure a spot in the NFL after his transition.
  • Bristol begins its season on September 13 against Sale Sharks.

Louis Rees-Zammit has returned to rugby, signing a contract with Bristol Bears. The 24-year-old player, who has already played 32 matches for Wales, previously announced in January 2024 his intention to stay in rugby to participate in the NFL International Player Pathway program.

Initially, he signed a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, then with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but did not manage to secure a spot on either team and decided to return to rugby.

On the club's website, Rees-Zammit stated: "Bristol Bears were an obvious choice for me. I want to bring excitement to the place, create memorable moments, and help people enjoy the game. I'm excited to return to rugby at a club that values this highly."

Previously, he scored 42 tries in 77 matches for Gloucester, and in the Wales team, his tally stands at 14 tries.

Director of Rugby at Bristol, Pat Lam, said: "Louis is a world-class player, and we are delighted to welcome him back to rugby. He has the ambition to be one of the best players in the world, and his goals align with our ambitions." Bristol starts its season with a match against Sale Sharks in the Premiership Cup on September 13.
