ESR Recalls Wireless Charging Stations Due to Fire Risk

  • ESR has recalled 33,000 charging stations due to fire hazards.
  • Consumers can obtain a refund by sending a photo of the unit.
  • The products were sold in the USA and Canada from January 2023.

This is reported by The Verge, ZDNet.

The company ESR announced the recall of 33,000 wireless charging stations of the HaloLock model, with capacities of 6000mAh and 10000mAh, due to the potential for overheating and fire hazards related to their lithium-ion batteries. The products, which were sold for prices ranging from $32 to $40, had a maximum wireless charging speed of 7.5W, while other charging devices using Qi2 technology typically support speeds of no less than 15W.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the company received nine reports of incidents involving overheating and fire of the charging stations, which resulted in property damage estimated at approximately $20,000, with no injuries reported. It is known that 24,000 charging stations were sold in the USA through Amazon, Home Depot, and other online stores from January 2023 to July 2025, as well as another 9,000 in Canada.

According to the CPSC, the recall concerns models 2G520, 2G505B, and 2G512B, which have the "ESR" label on the back and the model number on the right side. All recalled models have five round LED indicators on one side.

Consumers are urged to stop using recalled charging stations immediately, even if they are still functioning, and return them to ESR for a full refund. To do this, they need to send a photo of the recalled charging station with the label "recalled" on it to the email address support@esrtech.com.

The company also warns that these charging stations cannot be disposed of in regular trash; instead, they should be taken to designated points for battery recycling. Their disposal should be done through local recycling points for hazardous waste.
