On Thursday, September 14, 2025, the Broncos held a joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals, where quarterback Bo Nix demonstrated improved chemistry with receiver Cortland Sutton. Nix started the initial period of practice, attempting to connect with Sutton, but the pass went slightly off target. However, Nix did not stop and successfully found Sutton for the first touchdown.

Later, Nix again connected with Sutton, which enhanced their productive collaboration. After a disappointing start in the previous match, where the Broncos only scored three points, this day served as a positive signal for the team. Nix showcased his ability to find receivers, including rookie Devonnal Welle, who also impressed with his play.

Coach Sean Payton noted that Sutton, after signing a 92 million dollar contract, has taken on more responsibility within the team. Payton emphasized that Sutton has become an important leader for young receivers, and his work on the field serves as an example for others.

At the same time, safety Nick Bonitto is expected to return to training after an operation involving the removal of a cyst from his knee, but it is anticipated that he will return to training next week. The coach also mentioned issues with health regarding left tackle Garrett Bolles, who received medical assistance due to asthma.

Previously, ahead of the only home match before the season against the Cardinals, Payton decided not to release many starting players for the game, planning to give them time off after two joint practices.
