In Serbia, anti-government protests continue, sparked by corruption scandals. On September 14, 2025, in several cities, including Belgrade and Novi Sad, thousands of protesters took to the streets, demanding that President Aleksandar Vucic announce early elections.

Protesters vandalized offices of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in Novi Sad, where earlier a deadly train accident resulted in 16 fatalities. They smashed windows, spilled paint, and stole furniture. The police, who were ready to intervene, used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the clashes on September 14, 14 protesters were detained, and 5 police officers were injured. Earlier, on September 13, as a result of the clashes, 47 individuals were arrested, while 80 civilians and 27 police officers sustained injuries.

The protests have already lasted three nights, and they are supported by students, who are speaking out against corruption in the country. European Commissioner for Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, noted the alarming rise of nationalism in Serbia, emphasizing the importance of freedom of expression and journalism.

President Vucic, in turn, accused the protesters of provocations and promised further arrests, asserting that the protests are organized from abroad.
