Asian stocks rise after the fall of the US bond market

  • Asian stocks rose, despite the fall on Wall Street
  • Inflation in the US exceeded forecasts, causing recorded increases
  • Amazon stocks rose, helping stabilize the market

Asian fund markets primarily showed growth after the decline of stocks on Wall Street due to negative news about inflation in the US. According to data published on August 14, 2025, inflation at the consumer level in the US rose by 3.3% compared to the previous year, which significantly exceeds the forecasted 2.5%. This cyclically recorded increase suggests possible price hikes for consumers in the future.

On the backdrop of this news, the Shanghai Composite Index rose by 0.5% to 3,683.58, while the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong fell by 1.2% to 25,216.45. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index rose by 1.2% to 43,152.55, as the government reported an economic growth of 1% in the second quarter.

Currently, in the US, seven out of ten stocks in the S&P 500 index fell, although the index itself rose by less than 0.1% to a new record. The Dow Jones dropped by 11 points, while the composite Nasdaq also showed a slight decline.

Traders began speculating about the possibility of a reduction in Federal Reserve interest rates at the upcoming meeting in September due to a strong labor market, even though the number of claims for unemployment benefits decreased, indicating stability in the labor market.

In addition, stocks of large technology companies, such as Amazon, rose, which helped compensate for overall losses in the market. Amazon rose by 2.9% after announcing a new service for fresh product delivery in over 1,000 cities.

Asian markets, meanwhile, are also reacting to data from China, where the economy is feeling pressure due to high tariffs from the US, and investments in real estate have decreased. Retail sales in July increased by 3.7%, but this is lower than in June, when the growth rate was 4.8%.
