The head coach of Nottingham Forest, Nunu Espirito Santo, expressed his concerns regarding the situation in the club before the start of the new season, stating that the team has a "serious problem". After the summer transfer window, the club signed four new footballers, but according to Nunu, the team is still "very far" from where it should be.

Forest finished last season in the same place and is preparing to participate in the European League, but the coach believes that the team's preparation was not ideal. "We are very, very far from where we should be. We had no opportunity to create a team, as we did not know what the squad would be," said Nunu in an interview.

In addition, the club signed winger Dan Ndoye from Bologna, forward Ihor Zhezus, and defender Jairo Kunya from Botafogo, as well as goalkeeper Angus Gunn. The biggest outgoing transfer was the sale of Antonin Elanga to New York City for 55 million pounds sterling.

Nunu also noted that the team needs additional signings, as during the pre-season preparation the team only once faced a superleague opponent in seven matches. Among the targets for the transfer market are James McAtee from Manchester City, Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich, and also forward Arno Kalimundo from Rennes.

Furthermore, Nunu confirmed that an important moment is the retention of Morgan Gibbs-White, who signed a new contract with the club. This became the result of the active actions of the club's president, who persuaded the player to remain with the team.

The team will begin the new season with a match against Brentford on Sunday, September 17. Nunu emphasized that the team has a lot of work to do to prepare for the most demanding championship in the world.
