- Putin has met with five American presidents over the past 25 years.
- The meeting with Trump included a famous summit in Helsinki.
- Relations between Russia and the USA have worsened since the annexation of Crimea.
This is reported by ABC News, Asharq Al-Awsat.
Vladimir Putin has held meetings with five American presidents during his long tenure in office. From the beginning of his presidency, these meetings were regular, but after the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and interference in the 2016 elections, their frequency decreased.
The last meeting took place between Putin and Joe Biden in June 2021 in Geneva. During this meeting, the situation regarding Ukraine was discussed, but no significant agreements were reached.
Putin met with Donald Trump six times during his presidency, including the famous summit in Helsinki in July 2018, where Trump supported Putin's denial of interference in the American elections.
Putin also met with Barack Obama nine times, but relations between the countries significantly worsened after the annexation of Crimea and military actions in Syria. The first meeting with Bill Clinton took place in June 2000, when Putin had just begun his presidency.
Meetings with George Bush took place in a more friendly atmosphere, but over time, especially after the invasion of Iraq, their relations became strained.
