Explosion at a Gunpowder Plant in Russia Claims Lives

• An explosion at a plant in Ryazan has claimed the lives of five people.
• About 20 people were injured, some of whom remain trapped under the rubble.
• Workers from the military-industrial complex were employed at the plant.

On September 15, a powerful explosion occurred at a gunpowder manufacturing plant in the Lisny municipality of the Ryazan region of Russia. As a result of the explosion, a large fire broke out, and several fatalities have already been confirmed. According to information from Telegram channels Baza and Mash, at the time of the explosion, about 50 people were working on the premises.

At around 11:00, a loud explosion was heard, after which a column of smoke rose over the plant's territory. Previously, the causes of the fire and explosion were not linked to any drone attack. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed that five people died, and another 20 were injured. The number of victims may increase, as approximately 20 individuals remain trapped under the rubble.

In 2021, there was an explosion at this same plant, resulting in the deaths of 17 people. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, extraordinary situations have periodically arisen at Russian plants, including fires and explosions, which are often associated with safety violations or drone attacks.

On September 12, attacks by unidentified drones were also reported in Stavropol, resulting in explosions at enterprises. Earlier in September, explosions were recorded in Lipetsk, Ryazan, Taganrog, and Voronezh regions.
