Shakhtar Misses Chance to Progress Against Panathinaikos in the Europa League

On February 14, 2025, Shakhtar suffered defeats to Panathinaikos in the qualification match of the Europa League. The results were 0:0 in two matches, and in the penalty shootout, the Ukrainian team lost 3:4.

Coach Oleg Fedorchuk noted that one of the reasons for the defeat lies in the lack of experience of the young players of Shakhtar, who were unable to convert penalties. He emphasized that the Panathinaikos team appeared more experienced and organized.

Fedorchuk also pointed out that Shakhtar lacked key players, such as Kewin and Sudakov, who were crucial for the attacking potential of the team. This was particularly evident during crucial moments of the games.

According to the coach, the lack of player replacements and the absence of fresh forces also contributed to the result. Shakhtar will continue their journey in the playoff round of the League of Conferences, where they will meet Swiss Servette.
