Discussing Support for the Production of Ukrainian Drones

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal and Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Natalka Cmyk discussed the potential support for the production of long-range drones in Ukraine. Shmyhal expressed gratitude to Canada for its stable support since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.

During the meeting, they emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in the defense sector. Canada is already actively participating in what is known as the "Danish model"—an effective mechanism for supporting Ukraine. The parties also discussed new initiatives aimed at strengthening Ukrainian military forces.

Shmyhal noted that Canada is preparing to contribute to the PURL initiative, which aims to provide Ukraine with equipment and technology from the USA. They also discussed the possibility of supporting the production of long-range drones, which have already demonstrated high effectiveness on the battlefield.

In addition, Shmyhal presented to the Canadian delegation the "Defence City" mechanism, which introduces a special legal regime for the development of Ukraine's defense sector. "Together with Canada, we strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine and lay the foundation for lasting peace," he emphasized.
