Consumer spending increased by 0.5% in July
- Consumer spending in July increased by 0.5% in the USA.
- Spending on automobiles rose by 1.6%.

In July 2025, consumer spending in the USA increased by 0.5%, according to data published by the Department of Commerce. This increase is lower compared to the revised figure of 0.9% in June. The previous two months, April and May, showed a decline in spending of 0.1% and 0.9% respectively.
Spending on automobiles rose by 1.6%, rebounding after a decline related to tariffs on imported vehicles. Spending without accounting for automobiles increased by 0.3%. In clothing stores, sales increased by 0.7%, while in electronics stores there was a decline of 0.6%. Online sales also showed an increase of 0.8%.
The US economy remains under the influence of consumer demand, as consumer spending accounts for nearly 70% of economic output. A low unemployment rate and improved consumer confidence support this trend.
