Changes in the Battle System in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
- The game introduces real-time combat, moving away from the turn-based system.
- The mechanics of Mega Evolution allow for encounters with enhanced versions of Pokémon.
- Players will have the ability to actively dodge attacks during battles.
This is reported by The Verge, CNET.
The Pokémon game series is getting new elements with the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is scheduled for January 16, 2025. This game is a continuation of Pokémon Legends: Arceus and introduces a real-time battle system, unlike the traditional turn-based approach.
Players will now engage in battles where actions are executed in real-time. In the new system, each move of your Pokémon has a timer overlay that requires quick thinking and adaptation during battle. This essentially changes the traditional approach, where players could plan their moves.
In the demo-version presented at the Pokémon World Championships, players had the opportunity to try out new mechanics, including battles with trainers in battle zones, as well as encounters with wild Pokémon, such as Mega Absol. These battles required players to have physical agility, as they needed to dodge attacks from Pokémon while simultaneously controlling their own actions.
Thanks to the mechanics of Mega Evolution, players can now stack with enhanced versions of regular Pokémon, adding yet another layer of complexity. For example, during one of the battles, a player could use Lucario to counter Mega Absol, gathering Mega Power orbs to enhance their attack.
Overall, Pokémon Legends: Z-A promises to be a more dynamic and intense game, requiring players to think quickly and strategically.
