AT&T Announced Payment for Data Breaches
- AT&T will pay up to $7,500 to affected customers.
- Two data breaches occurred in 2024, impacting millions.
- The deadline for submitting claims for compensation is November 18, 2025.
The company AT&T announced the possibility of receiving compensation for millions of its customers after two large data breaches. In early 2024, news broke of the first breach, which affected 73 million records compromised by hackers who extracted personal information, such as dates of birth and social security numbers. This information was discovered on a dark web site.
The second breach occurred in July 2024, when customer data was compromised from a third party, which led to the exposure of phone and text message details of nearly all AT&T users.
As a result, AT&T has agreed to pay compensation in the amount of $177 million, of which $149 million was allocated for the first breach, and $28 million for the second. A court in Texas approved the settlement for final approval on December 3, 2025.
Customers whose data was compromised may submit claims to receive compensation. Those who were affected by the first breach may receive up to $5,000 for losses that occurred in 2019 and later. Customers whose data was compromised during the second breach have the right to compensation of up to $2,500 for losses that occurred after April 14, 2024.
Customers who were affected by both breaches may submit a claim to receive up to $7,500. The final deadline for submitting claims is set for November 18, 2025, and payments may begin as early as January 2025.
To submit a claim, it is necessary to fill out the form on the settlement website. Customers can also call for additional information.
