Mishiel Yo voices the Chinese blockbuster "Ne Zha 2" in the English dub

Mishiel Yo first saw "Ne Zha 2" in Hong Kong and was left with a positive impression of the dubbed version. This Chinese blockbuster has become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, earning over $2.2 billion by 2025. Yo, who is known for her mandarin, had some difficulties with reading subtitles and the accumulated visual effects. She believed that children should not be exposed to this.

The Oscar-winning actress, who can speak English fluently, as well as Malay and Cantonese, was not the only one who thought that the dub would be a successful idea. The finished film lasts 143 minutes, including 2400 animated shots and 1900 shots with special effects.

Yo praised the work of the director and the team, who, in her words, "pushed themselves to the limit." She noted that the dub is a complex masterpiece, and sometimes nuances are lost. "I believe they achieved a very good balance, not making it sound too classical, but also contemporary," she said.

The audience in North America has already shown interest in "Ne Zha 2," as the subtitled version earned over $20 million. Some Chinese communities in the USA even rented theaters to show the film. Yo believes that the English version will help him become popular worldwide.

"This is a universal language of family, love, an undivided hero, whose, whoever feels themselves a stranger, just that they are born different," she suggested.
