Ultrahuman Launches New Features for Tracking the Cycle After Acquiring viO HealthTech
- Ultrahuman launches a new app for tracking cycles.
- The acquisition of viO HealthTech expands the capabilities of smart wearables.
- Cycle and Ovulation Pro introduces new tools for planning pregnancy.
This is reported by TechCrunch, CNET.
The company Ultrahuman announced the acquisition of the company viO HealthTech, which specializes in technologies for women's health, to launch new features for tracking the menstrual cycle and ovulation. The terms of the agreement are not disclosed.
Thanks to this acquisition, Ultrahuman launches a new app for its smart wearable Ultrahuman Ring AIR called "Cycle and Ovulation Pro." This app allows users to accurately track their cycles, receive support when planning pregnancy with confirmed ovulation, and identify patterns such as early or late ovulation. Users can also enter symptoms and settings for identifying long-term trends in health.
The Cycle and Ovulation Pro app utilizes an algorithm that measures temperature, developed for fertility monitors OvuSense by the company viO. This technology has been developed over 15 years and trained on data from over 260,000 cycles, collected using medical sensors.
Ultrahuman notes that the majority of platforms for tracking menstruation are designed for women with regular 28-day cycles. In reality, however, most have irregular cycles, and women with such conditions as polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids often do not receive accurate or supportive care. The acquisition of viO was specifically aimed at such women.
The Cycle and Ovulation Pro app is available for $3.99 per month or $39.99 per year in the USA, the UK, the EU, Australia, and Canada. The company plans to release it in other regions in the future.
