In Tennessee, a man died after being bitten by a venomous snake during a hike in the Savage Gulf State Park. The incident occurred on August 8, when the victim, whose name has not been released, lifted a snake that was believed to be venomous.

The first responders arrived at the scene around 12:30 PM, when the man was approximately half a mile from the trailhead. He was given initial help, but despite their efforts, he died in the hospital.

According to witnesses, the man lifted the snake, which was identified as venomous. Venomous snakes are among the largest and most dangerous of the four types of snakes found in Tennessee.

According to preliminary data, the man may have died from an allergic reaction to the venom, but the final cause of death has yet to be determined. The director of the Emergency Management Agency in Grundy County, Matthew Griffith, advised people to remain calm and not attempt to handle snakes.

Venomous snakes typically live in forests and can grow up to 5 feet long. Although snake bites are rare, there are approximately 7,000-8,000 snake bites reported in the U.S. each year, of which about five result in death.
