Liverpool confirmed the signing of 18-year-old central defender Jovan Lee from Parma for an initial fee of 26 million pounds. The player signed a six-year contract and is considered a potential successor to Virgil van Dijk.
Lee, who has also been in the sights of other clubs, including Newcastle, is expected to immediately join the first team squad. He has a height of 193 cm and has already played for the Italy youth team.
The announcement of the signing took place ahead of Liverpool's start in the title defense of the Premier League against Bournemouth, in a match where Lee will be present at Anfield.
Lee, who made his debut in Serie A last season, expressed his enthusiasm upon moving to Liverpool. "I am very excited," he said. "When I learned about Liverpool's interest, I was thrilled."
The player will wear number 15 and intends to significantly improve his skills by working with new teammates in the team.
