Target Will Not Renew Partnership with Ulta Beauty Until 2026
- The partnership between Target and Ulta Beauty will conclude in September 2026.
- Ulta is present in 600 Target stores, but did not reach its goal of 800.
- Target is facing declining sales and competition in the market.
Target and Ulta Beauty announced the conclusion of their partnership, which began in 2021. According to official information, the parties "mutually agreed" not to extend the agreement, which ends in September 2026. Until then, Ulta Beauty stores in Target will continue to operate in stores and on the Target website.
At the moment, Ulta Beauty is represented in 600 out of approximately 1980 Target stores. According to Ulta representatives, the partnership allowed the company to expand product assortment, making it accessible to consumers, including cosmetics and skincare products.
Under the agreement, Ulta stores in Target occupied up to 1000 square feet and were located next to existing beauty sections in Target stores. However, in 2026, Target intends to dismantle these spaces and repurpose them.
This decision was made against the backdrop of declining sales at Target, which has already experienced a drop in customer traffic and competition with other retailers. In 2025, Target reported a decline in net sales by 2.8% in the first quarter, while Ulta plans to focus on expanding and developing new business directions.
Regardless of the concluded partnership, both companies have stated that they will continue to provide consumers with quality products until the end of the agreement.
