U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham expressed the opinion that the war in Ukraine could end by Christmas, provided that a trilateral meeting takes place between the presidents of the USA, Ukraine, and Russia. According to him, without negotiations, the USA could increase pressure on Russia and other countries.

Graham emphasized that if such a meeting takes place, he must be cautiously optimistic about the conflict ending by the holidays. In another case, he believes that President Trump could provoke serious consequences for Putin and countries that continue to buy Russian oil and gas.

Trump and Putin Summit in Alaska

On August 15, in Anchorage, Alaska, a meeting took place between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The main topic of the negotiations was Russia's military actions in Ukraine.

The negotiations lasted nearly three hours, although initially, they were planned to last no longer than six hours. Trump characterized the conversation as "extraordinarily productive," but no agreements regarding the cessation of hostilities were achieved.
