The First World Robot Games Kicked Off in China

On August 16, 2025, the first World Robot Games of humanoid robots began in Beijing, lasting three days. A total of 280 teams from 16 countries, including the USA and Germany, are participating in the competition. Participants presented 500 humanoid robots that will compete in 26 disciplines, ranging from light athletics to combat sports.
The opening of the event was accompanied by performances from robots that danced hip-hop, performed combat sports, and played musical instruments. Humanoid robots will compete in such sports as football, running, and boxing. The organizers noted that these competitions provide an opportunity to gather valuable data that will assist in the advanced work of robots for practical applications, particularly in manufacturing.
During the humanoid robot competitions, some participants experienced a decline and occasionally required assistance from humans, but most of them managed to operate independently, which triggered applause from the audience. China is investing significant funds in the development of humanoid robots, aiming to become a leader in this field by 2027.
