On August 16, 2025, at the Austrian Grand Prix, Marc Marquez from the Ducati team achieved his 12th victory in the sprint of this season. Despite starting from the fourth position, after a strong start he quickly moved up to second place, overtaking Francesco Bagnaia, who retired from the race due to technical problems.

In the first stage of the sprint, Marquez overtook his brother Alex Marquez in the tenth corner, allowing him to fully accelerate towards the victory. The podium of the sprint also featured Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta from KTM. Other French riders, such as Johann Zarco and Fabio Quartararo, performed less successfully, finishing in 9th and 11th places, respectively.

Bagnaia, who started from the rear positions, was forced to retire from the race due to technical issues, which became a disappointment for him and his team. In turn, Marquez continues his series of successes in the championship.
