- The team was unable to fully restore the roster from the start of the season
Washington, D.C. — The Washington team activated wide receiver Terrion McLaurin from the physically unable to perform list on Saturday, September 16, during ongoing negotiations regarding the extension of the contract with the player. McLaurin, 29, missed all training camp due to a dispute with the team over the terms of the contract.
The player did not participate in volunteer team activities in the spring, missing the mandatory mini-camp, and then did not appear on the first day of training camp, preferring instead to return and be placed on PUP due to a hamstring injury. On PUP, he had the opportunity to participate in team meetings and work with trainers, but he could not practice.
This activation occurred a day after coordinator of the attack, Kliff Kingsbury, emphasized the importance of returning all key players to the field. McLaurin has not played in a live match for 202 days, with the last game being in the NFC championship on January 26.
The start of the regular season is scheduled for September 7, but the team was unable to restore its full roster from last season, when McLaurin and rookie Jayden Daniels helped the team secure 5th place with the selected points.
