The Rambo franchise is gearing up for a new stage with a prequel that reveals the origins of John Rambo. This film will depict how the hero became a legendary figure in cinema, exploring his military career and experiences during the Vietnam War.
About the Film
The prequel will take place before the events of the film First Blood (1982) and will tell the story of John Rambo's service from 1966 to 1974. The main focus will be on his psychological development and moral dilemmas that shaped his character.
The film will be directed by Jalmari Helander, known for the films Sisu and Big Game. The screenplay is written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, who previously worked on Black Adam.
New Rambo
The lead role in the film will be played by Noah Centineo, a 29-year-old actor known for romantic comedies on Netflix. His casting is aimed at attracting a younger audience, although the role of Rambo is set to be a serious challenge for him.
Filming is set to begin in early 2026 in Thailand, where the production will build on previous installments. Sylvester Stallone will not be involved in the project, although he is associated with its development.
