The office of French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the leaders of the "Coalition of the Willing" will meet online on Sunday, August 17. The meeting will take place before the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington, scheduled for Monday, August 18.
The meeting will jointly involve French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Macron stressed the importance of security for achieving lasting peace and the intention to cooperate with the United States and partners within the Coalition. He also noted that support for Ukraine must continue as long as the aggression from Russia persists.
The Coalition of the Willing was created to support Ukraine in its war against Russia and was first announced on February 2, 2025. Earlier, on July 10, the coalition held a meeting in Rome with the participation of U.S. representatives.
