According to reports from L'Équipe, La Gazzetta dello Sport.
On September 16, 2025, at the Austrian Grand Prix, Francesco Bagnaia, a Ducati rider, was forced to retire from the race during the sprint due to problems with the motorcycle. At the moment of stopping, he occupied the last position, after feeling that his motorcycle had become unstable. Bagnaia reported that after three laps he felt strange vibrations and lost control, unable to regain it on the first turn.
After qualifying, where he finished in third place, the rider hoped for a positive result, but reality turned out to be different. He noted that the problems started as early as the warm-up, when he felt something strange in the rear tire. Bagnaia expressed hope that Michelin would clarify the reasons for the incident.
This season has proven difficult for the rider, who previously won the championship in 2022 and 2023. He changed the motorcycle to a new Ducati model, but could not adapt to the new conditions, which led to a significant gap from the championship leader, Marco Marquez, who currently has 123 points ahead.
Feeling instability and retirement
In a conversation with the press, Bagnaia stated: "I am waiting for the engineers to explain what happened. It's quite strange." He recalled that during the review of the video from previous races, he realized that his style did not suit the new motorcycle model, which affected his performance compared to the previous form.
After the retirement in Austria, Bagnaia hopes for a better result in the upcoming race, which will take place tomorrow, September 17.
