On Saturday, September 16, 2025, Olympique Lyon started the new Ligue 1 season with an important victory over RC Lens with a score of 1:0. The match took place at the Lens stadium, where the team of coach Paulo Fonseca demonstrated organized and effective play.

The winning goal was scored by Georg Mikautadze in the 67th minute, who finished the attack after a precise pass from his partner. Despite Lens's attempts to equalize the score, Lyon's defense, reinforced by a reliable goalkeeper, did not allow the substitute to succeed.
