Technologies help reduce patient discharge delays
- Artificial intelligence accelerates patient discharges in London.
- The new technology allows doctors to reduce paperwork.
- The system is designed to improve patient discharge processes.
In London, the development of artificial intelligence is beginning, which aims to expedite the process of discharging patients from hospitals. This tool allows for automatic filling of documents necessary for discharge, which can save valuable time and free up resources.
V.O. Minister of Health, Ue Striting, noted that the new technology enables doctors to spend less time on paperwork and more on patient care, thereby shortening waiting times. The tool, which is being tested at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust, analyzes medical records, including diagnoses and test results, which helps doctors create discharge summaries.
This document is reviewed by medical professionals, responsible for the patient, and is used for discharge or referrals to other services. The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology stated that the existing manual system can lead to prolonged delays, especially since doctors are often busy.
Striting emphasized that this tool is an example of the transition from analog technologies to digital within the framework of a 10-year health reform plan. The technologies used in the NHS aim to reduce delays in discharges and improve patient discharge processes.
The tool will be integrated into the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP), a software solution that streamlines cooperation among medical institutions. In a recent pre-ministerial meeting, Minister Kir Starmar stated that artificial intelligence will be used to enhance the efficiency of the economy and public services.
It is also reported that the government plans to implement technologies that cut down the time that administrative officers spend on paperwork, allowing them to focus on more important tasks.
