British boxer Nick Ball has once again confirmed his leadership in boxing, having defeated the former Australian champion Sam Goodman at the Korolivstva arena in Er-Riyadh. The fight took place on September 16, 2025, and Ball captured his WBA title in the featherweight category with the judges scoring the bout 118-110, 117-111, and 115-113.
Ball, who is 28 years old, remains the only reigning champion of Great Britain, despite receiving a cut in the last round. He stated that he wanted the fight to go not the best way, importantly, that he was able to fulfill the assignment.
At the start of the bout, Ball struggled with the distance control, but gradually began to dominate, utilizing changes in levels and positions. Goodman, who previously had been out of his depth, attempted to control the fight with his jab, but many of his punches did not reach their target.
After the ninth round, Goodman's corner reminded him that he could not allow himself to progress another round. In the final round, Ball received a cut, but managed to reach the finish line, confirming his status as champion.
Ball's upcoming plans may include unifications of titles with other champions, such as Steven Fulton, who holds the WBC title, and Naoya Inoue, the champion in the super-bantamweight division.
Results of other bouts last night
