According to information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the primary task of ground drones (GDs) at the front involves performing logistical tasks. In July, the volume of cargo delivered to the front by ground drones increased by over 80% compared to June.
At a regular working meeting held under the leadership of Andriy Hnatov, the head of the General Staff, the issues of the introduction and scaling of ground drones were discussed. The meeting included participation from the deputy commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Andriy Lebedenko, representatives of the command, and other military organizations.
The General Staff emphasized that the role of ground drones in logistics is growing due to increased attack depth and the quantity of enemy troops. Special attention is being paid to training specialists and increasing the number of operators of the deployed systems.
In the context of current challenges, the Armed Forces of Ukraine aim to create ground drone units in every combat brigade. These subdivisions will perform tasks related to logistics, fire support operations, distribution, and evacuation of the wounded. This, in turn, helps to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers and ensure a technological advantage over the enemy on the battlefield.
In July, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine approved the use of ground drones in the Armed Forces in all new foreign-manufactured complexes.
