On September 17, 2025, mass protests occurred in Israel, during which communities demanded the end of the war in Gaza and the establishment of an agreement for the return of hostages. Organizers of the actions, representing the families of hostages, announced a unified general strike that called for the blocking of roads and the closure of businesses. The police used water cannons to disperse the protesters and also detained dozens of demonstrators.
Participants in the actions emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, arguing that military pressure does not help to return the hostages. They scanned: "We do not win the war for the lives of hostages". Demonstrations took place in various locations across the country, including near the homes of politicians and on major highways.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a statement regarding the urgent release of the hostages, while his coalition partners prohibit any agreement that allows Hamas to remain in power. Meanwhile, the finance minister referred to the protest action as "a shameful campaign".
In Gaza, fighting continues, and according to medical sources, the humanitarian situation is deteriorating. Recently, a significant number of civilian casualties have been recorded, and the UN warns of a critical level of hunger in the region.
In addition, Israel is conducting airstrikes in Yemen in response to attacks from the Houthis, who are supported by Iran.
