Goalkeeper Fluminense Fabio achieved a significant milestone in his career, tying with legendary English goalkeeper Peter Shilton for the number of official matches played. On September 17, 2025, in the game against Fortaleza, Fabio played his 1390th match, which is recorded in the Guinness World Records.

The 44-year-old goalkeeper, who previously participated in the World Club Cup semifinals, expressed gratitude to everyone who supported his career. "I strive to be a good person and to help my teammates on the team," he stated after the game.

Fabio began his career in 1997, the same year Shilton ended his competitive playing days. Throughout his career, he played only for Brazilian clubs, including Vasco da Gama and Cruzeiro, where he won two titles as the champion of Brazil. He has now signed a contract with Fluminense until June 2026.

On September 19, Fabio could become the only holder of the record if he participates in the knockout match of the Copa Sudamericana against Colombian America Cali.
