  • Gabbels has signed a contract with Paris FC until 2030.
  • The club will pay 9 million euros for the forward.
  • Paris FC has changed its home stadium to Jean-Bouin.

PARIS (AP) — Paris FC, which recently secured promotion to Ligue 1, has signed a contract with forward William Gabbels from the Swiss club St. Gallen. The agreement is for five years, until June 2030.

The club announced the signing via video, shared on social media. While the exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, the French sports newspaper L'Équipe reported that Paris FC will pay 9 million euros ($10.5 million) plus possible bonuses amounting to 2.5 million euros.

24-year-old Gabbels came through the renowned youth academy of Lyon, but rarely played for the club, first moving to Monaco. At Monaco, he scored one goal in Ligue 1, and in Nantes — two, before moving to St. Gallen, where he scored 14 goals in the last season.

Paris FC received significant financial resources after the acquisition of the club by the richest family in France, the Arnaults, who own the luxury empire LVMH. The company Red Bull also acquired a stake in the club.

This is the first time in 35 years that two football clubs from Paris are competing in Ligue 1. Paris FC has also changed its home stadium after promotion and is now playing at the Jean-Bouin stadium, which is located next to the Parc des Princes stadium, where reigning champion Paris Saint-Germain plays.
