Zelensky Meets with Trump After Summit in Alliance
- Zelensky is meeting with Trump along with European leaders.
- The summit in Alliance did not produce an agreement, but it became a PR opportunity for Russia.
- European leaders are trying to influence Trump regarding Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will visit the White House on September 18, 2025, to discuss the consequences of the meeting between Trump and Putin, which took place on September 15 in Alliance. This meeting was perceived as a failure, as no agreement was reached, and Putin was received as an honored guest.
Zelensky will not be alone at this meeting; he will be accompanied by leaders from Europe, including Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak, Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, and President of France Emmanuel Macron. These leaders are eager to collectively influence Trump so that he changes his position regarding Ukraine, which has become more pro-Russian following his meeting with Putin.
The meeting in Washington must not result in Trump making any decisions without Ukraine's participation. Zelensky and his European partners aim to emphasize the importance of supporting Ukraine and maintaining its territorial integrity.
Experts note that the summit in Alliance served as a PR opportunity for the Kremlin, as Putin could receive international support without any concessions. Now, ahead of the meeting in the White House, Zelensky will need to remind Trump about the necessity of maintaining obligations regarding Ukraine's security.
The participation of European leaders will testify to the seriousness of the situation and their desire to support Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty. The President of the USA, according to his advisors, does not rule out the possibility of discussing issues related to arms supplies.
