Milan — August 17, 2025. AC Milan secured a victory over the team Bari with a score of 2-0 in the first round of the Coppa Italia. The goals were scored by Rafael Leao and Cristian Pulisić, who was noted in the second half.

Leao opened the scoring in the 14th minute, striking the ball past the substitute goalkeeper after a pass from Fikayo Tomori. However, while celebrating his goal, the Portuguese player sustained an injury to his right thigh and was forced to leave the field.

Pulisić scored the second goal, utilizing a pass from Santiago Giménez, who came onto the field to replace Leao. For Pulisić, this goal was significant, as he also scored in the previous round of the first half of the match.

In the 66th minute, a new player from Luka Modrić's team came onto the field, who debuted for Milan at the age of 39 after transferring from Real Madrid. The team's coach Massimiliano Allegri, who recently returned to the club, misses this match due to a suspension for misconduct during the final of the Coppa Italia 2024.

Milan, usually one of the teams that progresses to the later rounds of the Cup, began its journey this season earlier because last year it finished in eighth place in Serie A and played in the Coppa Bologna final. The next match Milan will play against Lecce at the end of January.

Among other teams that progressed to the next round were Empoli, Sassuolo, Genoa, Venezia, Como, Cagliari, Pisa, Palermo, Frosinone, and Parma.

The Serie A season will start next week, and Milan will play against the team Cremonese at San Siro.
