Helena Mirren, the renowned actress, expressed her opinion that the role of James Bond should remain that of a man. She emphasized that, regardless of the fact that she is "such a feminist," the character of Bond cannot be a woman, as it fundamentally changes the essence of the story. In her interview for Saga Magazine, she stated: "You cannot make Bond a woman. It simply doesn't work. James Bond must be James Bond, otherwise, it becomes something else entirely."
It is worth noting that Mirren is currently starring in the film Thursday Murder Club alongside former Bond Pierce Brosnan, who also supports the notion that the next Bond must be a man. He expressed his enthusiasm for the new actor taking on the role, stating that they are looking for a fresh approach to the character.
Previously, Mirren spoke about the fact that the concept of James Bond arose from "deep-seated sexism." She stressed that women have always played a crucial role in the Secret Service and expressed a desire to see realistic histories about real women who worked in this field.
Meanwhile, Amazon MGM Studios is preparing a new film about Bond, with a script written by Steven Knight. Speculations about who will become the next Bond continue, and among the rumored candidates are British actors Aaron Taylor-Johnson and James Norton.
