Gal Gadot believes that the box office failure of Snow White is due to the backlash against Israel
- Gal Gadot called the box office failure of the film unexpected
- The film earned less than expected due to various factors
- Gadot clarified that the comments were emotional and not sufficient
Actress Gal Gadot expressed her thoughts that the box office failure of Disney's film scheduled for 2025 Snow White is linked to the backlash against Israel.
Gadot, who is Israeli, stated that following the attack by HAMAS on July 7, 2023, when nearly 1,200 people were killed, she faced numerous threats to her address. Disney had to ensure additional security for her and her family.
In an interview on the Israeli television show The A Talks, Gadot shared that she was disappointed that the film did not achieve the success that was expected. She believes that the atmosphere surrounding the film was filled with public sentiment against Israel.
The film Snow White, which is set to release on March 21, 2025, earned nearly $206 million against a budget of $240 to $270 million, which is a significant financial failure for Disney.
Gadot also noted that the feedback she received was emotional, and not all the film's problems were related to the political context. She emphasized that the film's success depended on many factors, not just external pressure.
Critics of the film noted numerous negative reviews, which could also have influenced its results. Additional difficulties arose due to changes in casting, including the choice of Latina actress Rachel Zegler for the lead role, as well as through the superstructure surrounding the film's design.
