Ukrainian Drones Disrupt Railway Operations in Russia

  • The drone attack led to the delays of 38 trains in Russia.
  • The disruption of the contact network was a consequence of the strike on the station of Sergievka.
  • In the Volgograd region, a fire was recorded as a result of the attack.

This is reported by Ukrinform, Ukrinform, Ukrayinska Pravda.

On the night of September 22 to 23, Ukrainian drones struck two railway facilities in the Rostov and Volgograd regions of Russia, causing delays to 38 trains for up to 3 hours and 40 minutes. This was reported by Russian media and confirmed by the company "Russian Railways".

As a result of the attack, the Sergievka station was damaged, where the contact network was disrupted. The governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slusyar, noted that in the area of the drone attack, the fires were extinguished, but the flames damaged several buildings, which were quickly put out.

Also, in the Volgograd region, in the city of Petrov Val, a fire occurred in a military store located near the railway station. Local residents reported that windows were shattered in neighboring residential buildings.

This is not the first incident of an attack on infrastructure: on July 29, Ukrainian forces also struck a blow against logistics infrastructure in the Rostov region, and on September 21, drones targeted an oil refinery in Novoshakhtinsk.
