However, the situation changed drastically after a red card received by Filip Maanen for a foul. In numerical inferiority, Borussia was unable to maintain the lead, and St. Pauli scored during a moment, netting two goals in three minutes.
Goal Daniela Sinani from the penalty spot in the 86th minute and a powerful strike from Erik Smita in the 89th sealed the match for the hosts in this tense encounter. After this match, Borussia Dortmund was left without a win, having struggled at the start of the season.
